Day 1: Marrakech to Zagora – Camel Ride and Night in a Berber Tent

Start your journey from Marrakech towards the southeast, traversing the Middle and Higher Atlas mountains. Enjoy scenic stops at the Cedar forest, the largest in Morocco, and witness Barbarian apes. After lunch in Midelt, experience the transformation of landscapes as you approach Errachidia. Continue through the Ziz Valley and the Tafilalet date palm grove. Reach Merzouga in the late afternoon, where you’ll be welcomed with mint tea. Check in to your riad and prepare for an evening camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Spend the night in a Berber tent with dinner provided.

Day 2: Merzouga Exploration – Camel Trek and Berber Tent Overnight

Explore the Merzouga area, visiting the Gnawa people and experiencing their music and lifestyle. Discover the bird-populated lake of Merzouga and visit the traditional souk in Rissani. Return to Merzouga for some rest before embarking on a camel trek into the sand-sea of Merzouga. Reach the desert camp for dinner and spend the night in a Berber tent with western bathrooms.

Day 3: Merzouga to Dades Gorges via Todra Gorges

Wake up early for a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, trek back to Merzouga village. Depart for Rissani, Todra Gorges, and the Dades Valley. Explore the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco, Todra Gorges, followed by lunch in the gorge. Drive through the Dades Valley, witnessing sand castles and rock formations. Overnight in a hotel overlooking the Dades valley.

Day 4: Dades Valley to Ouarzazate via Kasbah Amridil and Skoura

Drive through the “Way of the Thousand Kasbahs” towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. Stop at Kalaat Mgouna, known as “the rose city,” to purchase rosewater. Continue to Ouarzazate, visiting the Amridil Kasbah on the way—a historical Berber chieftain’s residence. Spend the night in Ouarzazate.

Day 5: Ouarzazate to Marrakech via Ait Ben Haddou and Tizi N’Tichka Pass

Depart early to explore the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue towards Marrakech, passing through the Tizi N’Tichka Pass, the highest point in Morocco at 2,260m. Enjoy beautiful landscapes and picturesque berber villages. Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon, check in to your riad within the Medina, and conclude your 5-day desert adventure.
